Abstract

1432255 Extrusion DEMAG AG 19 June 1973 [19 June 1972] 29023/73 Heading B3P An indirect extrusion press comprises an axially movable container 4, a press ram 9a movable transversely of the press between alignment and out of alignment with the container bore, a slide 6 movable transversely of the press to bring either an opening 14 or a container bore closure member 7 into alignment with the container bore, a billet inserter 30 and a billet loader 1. The billet 2 is pushed from the loader 1 by the inserter 30 into the container bore, Fig. 2 (not shown), whereafter the slide 6 is moved and the container 4 retracted, Fig. 3 (not shown). The ram 9a is then positioned in line with the container bore and the container and slide 6 are advanced over the ram 9a to extrude the billet through a die on the ram, Fig. 4 (not shown), by hydraulic cylinders 13. After extrusion the discard is cut-off, pushed through the container bore into the opening 14 by a further ram 9b and ejected from the opening by the inserter.
