Abstract
1453242 Extrusion LINDEMANN MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 8 March 1974 [14 April 1973] 10485/74 Heading B3P In an indirect extrusion press with a billet receiver 8 axially movable over a die plunger 7 the residue R left in a recess at the end of the plunger is partially removed by advancing the receiver further over the plunger, Fig. 8, and pressing the residue with an extrusion plunger 6 to form a flange 21. The flange is then sheared and moved over the extrusion plunger 6 by retraction of the receiver and ejected from the plunger 6 after its retraction or alternatively the plunger 6 is first retracted and the flange sheared by retraction of the receiver, Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown). The plug of residue remaining in the die plunger recess is used as the leading part of the next billet which welds thereto to provide a continuous extruded length.
