Abstract
1,104,505. Billet piercing; extruding. HYDRAULIK G.m.b.H. 14 June, 1965 [19 June, 1964], No 25089/65. Headings B3H and B3P. An hydraulic extrusion press has a mandrel 11 actuated by piston 10 working in a cylinder 9 provided in the rear part of the main press ram 2, and an extension 13 of the mandrel extends rearwardly from the piston and carries a stop 15. This is adjustable on the extension 13 and co-operates with an abutment 17 on the rear of main cylinder 1. For holding the mandrel stationary during extrusion, the parts 13, 17 may be locked together by power actuated means 21. The mandrel has a nose end, Fig. 7 (not shown), and may be rotated; it is also used for piercing a solid billet.
