Abstract

1428443 Extruding ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 11 June 1973 [12 June 1972] 27671/73 Heading B3P A hydrostatic tube extrusion press 1 with an axially movable high-pressure cylinder 5 and a pressure generating punch 10 has a rod 14a, 14b passing through the punch and acting as a mandrel and seals 25, 32 between the mandrel, punch and cylinder, Fig. 4, are arranged to be in approximately the same radial plane during extrusion. The rod is attached to a piston 15 of a pressure cylinder 16 which moves the rod through a pierced billet 22 to hold the billet and extrusion die 21 against a crosshead 2. The cylinder 5 is then moved over the billet, Fig. 3 (not shown), and pressure chamber 40, Fig. 4, is pressurized by the punch 10 mounted on a piston-cylinder unit 6, 8.
