Abstract

Hoods.-Means for operating hoods by means of a crank handle comprise on each side a train of gear wheels 1, 22, 23, 24, of which gear 1 carries a plate 4 to which is pivoted a rod 5 also pivoted to the rear pillar 7. The rear pillar carries a rocking lever 12 connected by a link 16 to the rear cant-rail extension 15 and also to the usual scissors levers 18 - - 21 by a link 17, the lever 18 being also connected to the near cantrail at the top of the intermediate pillar 36 by a telescopic spring tube 40. The intermediate pillar 36 is connected to the rear pillar by a link 34, rocking lever 32, telescopic spring tueb 31, rocking lever 30, and arms 29. To collapse the hood, the front of the hood is released from the wind-screen pillar 45 and a spring plunger 46 partially raises the divided cant-rail, the folding of the hood being completed by means of the crank and gear wheels. The gear wheels may be replaced by worm gears.
