Abstract
219,666. Soc. H. Trentelivres et Cie. July 26, 1923, [Convention date]. Safety appliances.-A bumper bar device for motor-vehicles comprises a transverse bar mounted on supports consisting of a pair of telescoping tubes with the interposition of a spiral spring, one of the tubes being secured to the vehicle frame and the other to the said bar. The barrel 1 provided with a foot 2 is secured to the chassis side-bar by bolts 4 and is adjusted horizontally by a stepped packing piece 5. Slidable in the barrel 1 is a tube 8 which is slotted at its outward end to receive the web of a T-section transverse bar 13 which is secured to the barrel 8 by a bolt 12. Between the barrels 1 and 8 is a buffing spring which forces the slotted barrel 8 outwardly, the outward movement of which being limited by a bolt 10. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) described the tube 1 having an extension bent at an angle and secured to the vehicle frame at the rear of the vehicle. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
