Abstract
250,350. Avery, Ltd., W. & T., and Taylor, J. W. Jan. 27, 1925. Crank - actuated pumps; speed-varying devices; double-acting piston pumps; two barrels in series; measuring-devices.- Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of liquid comprises a double-acting pump G provided at each end with suction and delivery valves 10, 11, and supplied with a head of liquid through a pipe 8 drawing from a reservoir 7 fed by a pump 4 through a pipe 6. The pump 4 may be of larger capacity than the pump 10, the excess liquid delivered to the reservoir 7 returning by the overflow pipe 23 to the tank from which the pump 4 draws. The pistons 14 and 4a of the measuring pump and feed pump are mounted on a common rod 15 which is reciprocated by a crank handle through gearing 20, 19, a crank 17, and connecting rod 16. The amount of liquid delivered is determined by means of the setting on the screw shaft 21 of a traversable member in the manner described in Specification 250,349. Leakage is returned to the pipe 23 from the delivery pipe 29 by a valve 24 and pipe 25.
