Abstract
248,165. Smith, W. J. Feb. 16, 1925. Actuating by liquid pressure; double-acting piston pumps. - A hydraulically-actuated pump comprises a number of cylinders 1, 7 and pistons 2, 8 coupled by yokes 5, a slide valve 10 controlling the admission of pressure water to the cylinder 1 through ports 16, and ports 26 and non- return valves 29 controlling the passage of water to the cylinder 7. The pressure water on oneside of the pistons 2, 8 forces the water on the other side of the piston 8 through one of the delivery valves 30<1> at a higher pressure. At the end of the piston strokes, the valve 10 is reversed by one of the yokes 5 which slide on the valve rod 17 and move a spring 24 against a stop 18 on the rod. The stops have inclined surfaces co-operating with spring detents 21 to hold the valve in the new position.
