Abstract

Coiled and sinuous tube superheaters.-A tubular stiffening member 5 connecting the shell of a marine-type boiler with the shell of the reversing chamber 9, is sufficiently large to accommodate a complete superheater consisting of a bundle of U-shaped tubes 4. A container 6 supplied with feed water surrounds the stiffening member to protect it from the action of hot gases. Several stiffening members, each with a complete superheater, may be provided.
