Abstract
240,877. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Burnham, L. H.). Oct. 6, 1924, [Convention date]. Transformers.-In transformers in which the core laminations are clamped together by insulated belts passing through the outer limbs thereof, an auxiliary winding which may include the bolts themselves is placed upon that part of the core which lies outside the position shielded by the bolts to provide current for accessories such as lighting or signalling circuits and small auxiliary motors. As shown on the left limb of the shell type transformer in Fig. 1, the auxiliary winding may consist of the bolts 8 connected in series by conductors 9, or, as shown on the right limb, a number of holes may be provided in the shielded portion of the core through which conductors 11, which may be connected in series with the bolts 8, and forming the auxiliary winding, are passed.
