Abstract
175,460. Gunstone, A. C. Dec. 3, 1920. Commutator switching-arrangments; transformers.-The secondary winding of an induction coil is divided into two or more sections, and the current in half the number of sections is reversed at each make and break of the primary circuit by means of a commutator, so that the inverse secondary currents produced on making the primary circuit oppose one another in the sections of the secondary. In the arrangement shown, the secondary winding is divided into two sections s1, s2, the current in the section s2 being reversed by a commutator r. The primary winding is also divided into two sections p1, p2, connected in series through a mercury-jet interrupter k.
