Abstract

238,402. Berry, J., (Semoto & Co., S.). Oct. 3, 1924. Printing-surfaces. - In rotary intaglio printing-machines in which the flexible printing-plate is strained round the printing-cylinder by a tensioning-bar mounted in a recess in the cylinder and engaging the ends of the plate, a capping- piece being provided to close the recess, the ends of the capping-piece have portions extending circumferentially of the cylinder to support the ink doctor so as to prevent it entering the slots between the edges of the capping-piece and the printing-plate. The printing-plate D, Fig. 1, has bent-up ends E engaging grooves in the tensioning-bar F which is adapted to be screwed to the bottom of the recess C in the cylinder A. The capping-piece H has end portions H<1>, Fig. 3, flush with the surface of the plate D to support the ink doctor and is fixed by screws to the end walls of the cylinder, or, as shown, is formed with a portion K adapted to be fixed to a collar J on the cylinder.
