[Class 100 (ii).] A forme plate for use in letterpress printing- machines comprises a flexible printing-plate or forme 1 which may be formed with a design by photomechanical means, or which may take the form of an aluminium, zinc, or other known planographic printing-plate, the plate being affixed to a baseplate 2 which is constructed like a stereotype plate so that it can be set or positioned in similar manner to the latter on the cylinders of a rotary letterpress printing- machine. The plate 1 may be attached to the base 2 by adhesive or screw means, and the total thickness of the combination is equal to the thickness of an ordinary stereotype plate.
