[Class 100 (ii)] Inking apparatus.-In a rotary printing press, particularly a rotogravure press, having the printing cylinder mounted in an ink fountain having side walls in sealing engagement with the cylinder and end walls spaced from the ends of the cylinder, these spacers are sealed by resilient plates 25 overlapping the ends of the cylinder, means being provided to hold 'the plates down in flexed position to engage the cylinder and form a seal or to release them to allow them to spring up to provide free access for the insertion or removal of the cylinder. Each plate 25 is fixed at one end by a bar 26 to an arcuate support 21 fixed to the end wall of the fountain and at the other end is provided with holes to engage over notched pins 30 carried by the support, a sliding latch plate 33 being provided on the plate to engage the pins 30 to hold the plate down. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sec. 91, states also that the reciprocating doctor blade 12 is backed by a resilient plate 16 the pressure of which on the blade is controlled by the engagement therewith of the ends 41 of the supports 21 which are angularly adjustable by means of slots 42 through which the fixing bolts for the supports pass. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
