Abstract

Single-acting suction-valveless piston pumps; multiple-delivery piston pumps ; plungers ; suction reservoirs.-A pump for lubricant comprises a barrel 10. 10' of two diameters in which a plunger 14, 16 of corresponding diameter is reciprocated. During the upstroke, oil flows from a reservoir 1 through a port 9 into the barrel, and during the downstroke the liquid in the wider portion of the barrel is forced past the delivery valve 21 while the liquid in the portion 10<1> escapes back to the reservoir through a bore 17 in the plunger. A follower piston 6 in the reservoir separates the oil from the atmosphere. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the oil in the barrel 10<1> may be delivered either to the reservoir 1 or to the delivery pipe 20 by a valve 26 and a passage 28 or 27; and the piston 6 is attached to the cover by a chain 24.
