Abstract
421,130. Lubricating-pumps. BLISS, J., 30, Cheapside, London. June 14, 1933, No. 17024. [Class 102 (i)] A lubricating apparatus comprises a reciprocating low-pressure pump supplying lubricant in a succession of impulses to a booster pump at the point to be lubricated. The booster pump comprises a piston 18, Fig. 1, acted on by the lubricant supplied by the low-pressure pump through the passage 16 and operating a high-pressure plunger 19, which controls a suction port 23 supplied by a passage 21. The return stroke of the plunger is effected by a spring 24. The plunger discharges by a pipe 29 to the point to be lubricated, the discharge being controlled by a ball valve 26, which can be unseated by a rod 27 operated by a trigger 28. In a modification, Fig. 2, the lubricant passes through a passage 34 in the pistons 18, 19 controlled by a check valve 35. The low-pressure pump may comprise a plunger reciprocated by compressed air and controlling a suction port, which is supplied, through a gauze filter, by a reservoir having a piston acted on by compressed air.
