Abstract

595,169. Deep well pumps. DEHN, F. B. (Alco Valve Co.). June 14, 1945, No. 15158. [Class 102 (i)] A deep well pump comprises a plunger 17 fitted with a valve 19 and reciprocated by an intermittent liquid pressure applied to pipe 13 to draw oil through the bore 18 and deliver it through the valve 35 to the rising tube 11. When the pressure in the pipe 13 rises it acts through port 27 to depress the valve 22 against the spring 25 and allow liquid under pressure to pass through the ports 30 and 31 to the bottom of the cylinder 12 to raise the plunger 17 for the discharge stroke. When the pressure in the pipe 13 falls, the valve 22 is raised to connect the ports 31 and 33, whereby the liquid, from the lower end of the cylinder 12 is allowed to flow to the space above the plunger 17 as the latter falls by gravity and at the same time draws in further oil from the well.
