Abstract
235,139. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Mitchell, L. E., and White, A. J.). June 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Vacuum tubes. - For completing exhaustion, a ' getter " such as magnesium is attached to that part of a plate or other electrode which is the last to attain the volatilization temperature of the " getter " when the electrode is heated by electron bombardment or by high-frequency currents. The " getter " 19, Fig. 3, may be secured to a carrier 18, attached to or integral with the " plate " electrode 15 at the end remote from the supports. Alternatively, the carrier 21, Fig. 7, may project inwards, the magnesium &c. being then attached to the lower side of the carrier so that it faces the interior of the electrode. Additional pieces of magnesium 23, Figs. 3 and 7, may be placed on the outside of the electrode itself. The carrier, like the electrode, may be of nickel or molybdenum.
