Abstract
373,900. Cathode-ray tubes. MLLER AKT.-GES. C. H. F., 24, F³hlsb³ttelerdamm, F³hlsb³ttel, Hamburg, Germany. Sept. 29, 1931, No. 27102. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1930.. [Class 39 (i).] A tubular metal member, insulated from the cathode and from a perforated anode, is arranged in front of the aperture in the anode and has at the end remote from the anode, a window forming part of the envelope. As shown in Fig. 1, the anode consists of a metal ring 13 in a cylinder 2 sealed to glass portions 1 of the envelope ; a metal tube 4, acting as a Faraday cage, is arranged on the side of the anode remote from the cathode 3, and carries a .window 5. A high variable resistance 6, which may be ohmic or consist of an incandescent cathode vacuum tube, is connected between the anode and the earthed window. In a modification, Fig. 2, the cathode 10 is mounted inside a hollow anode 9 having a flange 11 extending into a metal tube 12 closed by the window 5.
