231,669. Robinson & Son, Ltd., T., Robinson, C. J., and Tweedale, J. April 9, 1924. Expanding pulley gearing employing V belts comprises a fork rod 9 for operating the pulleys 7, 8 simultaneously, such rod having an additional swinging motion adapted to keep the belt x in tension at all speeds. The rod 9 is screwed and carries forks 16 operating the two pulleys. When the rod is turned by a sprocket 15, the forks are moved simultaneously. The rod 9 passes through a swivel bearing 10, and at its other end is supported on a freely swinging pivoted link 11. The link 11 gives the swinging motion to the rod 9 and so a differential motion to the forks. The arcuate motion of the outer end of the rod 9 may be produced by a cam instead of by the link.
