Abstract

Exhaust, dealing with and cooling. - Exhaust gases are cooled and deodorized by spraying them with water, passing them through water, and then drying them by passage through coke or flints, the water being collected and cooled for re-use. The exhaust manifold b may be water-jacketed and water is injected by a pump p and a sprayer c. The gases then pass to a tank e, in the lower part i of which water collects. The gases pass through the water and through a perforated -partition g and a filling of coke e<z> to an outlet pipe h. The overflow from the space i passes by way of a valve j and pipe k to a settling tank l, then by a pipe o, a pump p, a pipe q, and a multi-tubular radiator r to a reservoir u, which is connected by a pipe x to the pump p<1> supplying the sprayer c.
