223,810. Thornton, A. A., (Yellow Jack-It Manufacturing Co.). March 18, 1924. Jacks.-A lifting-jack for motor vehicles comprises a wheeled framework carrying a lifting member 19 which rests in the bight of an anchored chain 24 and is raised by winding the free end of the chain on to a drum 26. An extension member 35 having ratchet retaining mechanism rests on the member 19 and is raised into engagement with the load by the pivoted lever 36. Members 19 of various lengths are provided in order that the appliance can be engaged with axles of any height. The drum 26 has ratchet retaining mechanism and is turned bv ratchet mechanism when the lever 32 is rocked.
