Jacks.-The lifting-pillar C of a lever jack for vehicles is formed with two crutches C', C<2> and is connected to the pedestal A by pivoted links D, E forming a parallel-motion device. One or more of the links are extended to form the actuating-lever. The load is sustained by the engagement of a pawl L mounted on the lever with ratchet teeth A<3> on the pedestal. The pins H, G which connect the lever and lifting-pillar, and lever and pedestal respectively, are prevented from turning in the lever E.
