Abstract
163,621. Morris, G. H. Aug. 7, 1920. Addition to 144,202. Jacks.-A ratchet jack is actuated by pawls 7, 8 mounted on separate cranks on a common shaft and arranged so that when the shaft is rocked through one arc the pillar 3 is raised, and lowered when the shaft is turned to another position and rocked through another arc. The pawls have spring extensions 11, 13 which coact with projections 12, 14 on the casing and are of greater strength than the springs 9, 10 normally retaining the pawls in engagement with the rack. The handle is connected to a universal joint on the crank-shaft.
