A sleeve n, having a conical end which has either a concave or a convex surface is fixed to the main shaft m and is surrounded by a winding o which may be energized by closing a contact I by movement of a lever l. A hub q drives the pump through bevel gearing r, s and has keyed to it an armature p which is moved against a spring t when the winding is energized so that the ends of the armature and sleeve are in frictional contact.
