Abstract

266,413. Brown, A. Hall-. Oct. 24, 1925. Pumps.-A blower for supplying air is controlled by means dependent on the pressure in the induction pipe and which interrupt the drive of the blower, regulate its speed or control a bye-pass in the outlet pipe. The induction pipe is connected to a cylinder 4 having a piston 5 connected to the driving pulley 3 of the radiator fan 2 around which is mounted a blower 1 driven from the pulley 3. As the suction varies friction surfaces 3<a> on the pulley are forced by the spring 7 either into or out of engagement with the hub of the blower 1. In a modification, the pressure in the induction pipe acts on a piston 8 connected to a two-way valve 13 controlling the inlet and outlet of the blower and a relief valve 14 which is opened when the blower outlet is closed. In a further modification the piston is connected to a change-speed gear for the blower.
