Auxiliary actuating gear; disconnecting actuating mechanism.-In a fuel pump for internalcombustion engines, the pump shaft 2 is driven through gearing and a one-way clutch 3, 4 so that, if the engine back-fires or reverses, the clutch is automatically disengaged against the action of a spring 5. The clutch may be disengaged also by a hand lever 8 when it is desired' to operate the pump shaft bv a hand lever 10.
