Abstract
338,871. Kjµr, V. A. Aug. 26 1929. Stopping. - In a device for relieving compression when stopping stationary or other engines normally working at a constant speed, in order to prevent or diminish torsional vibrations in the crank shaft, the roller 4 on the valve lever 5 is lifted off the actuating cam 2 by a lever 8 or a pawl or cam normally held out of action by a catch 11. On the release of the catch, a spring 10 moves a projection 9 on the lever 8 into engagement with the pivot 22 of the roller 4. The catch 11 is pivoted at 23 and connected by a rod 14 to a hand lever 15 normally held by a spring 19 in engagement with a stop 21. The lever 15 or the catch 11 may be actuated simultaneously with the cutting off the fuel supply to the engine.
