Abstract
180,889. Blumfield, T. W., and Abing- don Works, Ltd. May 24, 1921. Regulating; valve-gear.-An engine for motorcycles &c. has the inlet valve b actuated directly by a cam a, and the exhaust valve d worked from the same cam through a rocker c, and is provided with means for opening the exhaust valve on the compression strokes comprising a lever f mounted on an eccentric pivot g so that it may be moved into engagement with the cam a, the exhaust valve being then lifted through a rod i, bell-crank j, and rod k. The eccentric pivot g is operated by a hand or foot lever h, and may be locked in or out of action by a spring plunger l bearing on one of a pair of flats m on the pivot g. Instead of moving the lever f into position, an intermediate piece may be interposed between it and the cam.
