Cap frames; building-motions; poker guides and spindle and lifting rails; driving arrangements. - Cap frames for spinning and winding artificial filaments, such as artificial silk, are provided with two rows of spindles, which are driven independently so that one row may be doffed while the other is operative, and the lifter rails 15, 16 balance each other and are reciprocated in opposite directions by pokers 20, 21 connected by chains or cables to pulleys 18 on an oscillating shaft 17. The pokers are guided by the spindle rails 7, 8 and brackets 22, 23, and the rails 15, 16 slide on guides 26, 27 on the framework. The tin rollers 35, 36 are driven by electromotors or by a single driving-gear and clutch mechanism.
