Abstract

695,615. Spinning yarns. OLDHAM TWIST CO., Ltd. Nov. 5, 1951. No 25782/51. Classes 120(i) and 120(iii) In a process of preparation of textile fibres for treatment by intermediate frames, groups of six or eight slivers produced by cards, combers, or drawing frame heads, are drafted and doubled to produce simultaneously from each group two separate slivers of equal weight which are collected separately in loose coils. The drawing frame shown has two trumpet condensers 1 and 2 arranged above calender rollers 3 of each drawing head and two top coilers 4 and 5 arranged below the rollers delivering into separate cans 11 driven by bottom coilers 6 and 7. The top coilers are driven from a shaft 12 through bevel gearing 13, 14, spur gearing 15, 16, 17; the bottom rollers are also driven from the shaft 12, through bevei gears 19, 20, a vertical shaft 18 and a sput gear train 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, the gears 27 being formed on the bottom coilers. As illustrated in Fig. 2, six slivers may be doubled in two sets of three, 8, 9, 10, io form two slivers 29 which are collected separately.
