Abstract

231,067. Ferrand, F. July 26, 1924. Rollers and roller heads.-In a mule, ring or other spinning machine, a number of lines of drawing rollers 7, 8, 9 are provided in addition to, and above, the usual rollers 4, 5, 6 in the ordinary drawing-head, the said additional lines of rollers being arranged one above the other in more or less vertical alignment. The bottom front roller 4 is positively driven and, through gear-wheels 10, 11, 13, 14, drives the bottom back roller 6, from whence the middle roller 5 is driven through gear-wheels 15, 17, 18, while the rollers 7, 8, 9 are driven from a wheel 16 on the shaft of the roller 6 through gearing 19, 20, 20<a>, 21, 22. The path of the roving 23 is shown in Fig. 1, and the additional rollers serve to effect the drafting usually performed in a roving or intermediate frame, while on issuing from the rollers 4 the roving has practically no twist.
