Abstract

457,950. Gill drawing frames. GREEVES, Ltd., J. & T. M., and EVES, J. V., Forth River Mills, Falls Road, Belfast. Nov. 5, 1935, No. 30534. [Class 120 (i)] In a drawing or gill frame an air blast is directed upwardly on to the underside of each sliver as it travels across the space between the gill pins f and the nip of the drawing rollers A, B, Figs. 2 and 4, so as to support stray fibres not held securely to the body of the sliver. The blast is directed upwardly from a nozzle C extending across the machine adjacent to the descending gill bars or fallers F, F<1> or, alternatively, a series of nozzles each the width of a separate sliver may be provided. If preferred, a series of jets from holes or slots in a pipe may be substituted for the nozzle or nozzles.
