Abstract

498,148. Preparing fibres for combing. FINE COTTON SPINNERS' & DOUBLERS' ASSOCIATION, Ltd., and HINDLEY, J. July 26, 1937, No. 20578. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii)] Two or more sliver laps A<1>, A<2> are arranged in the creel of a ribbon lap machine so that they are superposed and doubled and drawn, and a number of such superposed laps are doubled and drawn before passing to the lapforming mechanism. Each lap head is of ordinary construction but the number of drawing-rollers is increased, and the number of heads is also increased, the machine shown in the drawings having twelve instead of the more usual six. The rollers are weighted by a weight E, Fig. 4, and a lever system E<1>, e. The creel may be adapted to carry full laps a<1>, a<2> ready for insertion.
