Abstract

218,216. O'Brien, F. Jan. 22, 1924. Hoods.-A hood for a motor or other road vehicle comprises a single lattice framework, of which the members are pivoted together at 2 and the rear members are pivoted to short links 5 hinged to a rear U-shaped support 7, and a cover 9, Fig. 4, adapted to be unrolled to cover the framework. The support 7 is secured at each end to a telescopic strut 13, 14 pivoted at 8 to the vehicle body and provided with a spring adapted to lock it in its extended or contracted position. Fixing plates 11 at the front of the lattice framework secure it to the wind screen and to a transverse lath 12 to which the hood cover 9 is secured. Strips of webbing 10 prevent undue extension of the framework.
