Yarns, warping and beaming.-In devices for controlling the friction driving-devices for use in the beaming operations in yarn slashing or tape sizing machines, the pressure lever n for controlling the friction discs u has a slidable bracket m interposed between it and a lever r having a constant load t. The bracket m is moved down the lever n as the beam increases in diameter by mechanism operated by the presser shaft c and carries a roller o for engagement with the lever r. When the beam is substantially filled, the roller engages an incline w on an adjustable piece v on the lever, and allows a weighted catch y to engage the lever n to reduce the pressure on the friction discs u. When a fresh beam is being filled, an adjustable piece on the bracket m moves the catch y out of engagement with the lever n.
