Abstract

Lakes are obtained by heating suspensions of natural or artificial silicates, alkali, and basic dyestuffs to boiling point, with or without the application of pressure. The amount of alkali is kept low to avoid excessive decomposition of the silicate. An example of suitable proportions is given. Specifications 201,940 and 201,941 are referred to.ALSO:Products having bleaching and decolorizing properties are obtained by heating suspensions of natural or artificial silicates, alkali, and organic matter to boiling point, with or without the application of pressure. The amount of alkali is kept low to avoid excessive decomposition of the silicate, and in the case of certain natural silicates the organic matter present as an impurity may be sufficient. An example of suitable proportions is given. Specifications 201,940 and 201,941, [both in Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], are referred to.
