Abstract

A liquid blue having bleaching and disinfecting properties is prepared by intimately mixing a filtered solution of ultramarine with borax solution, adding in succession turpentine, alcohol, p water-glass, sodium tungstate, and formaldehyde, heating in an autoclave to 50 DEG C., and stirring vigorously again. An example of the process is given, appropriate quantities being indicated.ALSO:A liquid washing-blue having bleaching and disinfecting properties is prepared by intimately mixing a filtered warm solution of ultramarine with borax solution, turpentine, alcohol, water-glass, sodium tungstate, and formaldehyde, heating in an autoclave to 50 DEG C., and stirring vigorously again. In an example, 40 kilo. ultramarine are heated to 38 DEG C. mixed with 8 kilo. water at 38 DEG C., and the mixture heated to 65 DEG C. or more for some time before being filtered through asbestos. There are then added in succession, with about 10 minutes stirring after each addition, 10 kilo. borax in solution, 10 kilo. turpentine, 18 kilo. alcohol, 9 kilo. waterglass of 38-40 DEG B<\>ae., 2 kilo. sodium tungstate, and 2 kilo. of a 12 per cent solution of formaldehyde.
