Abstract

211,519. Dingertz, K. Aug. 24, 1922. Boat raising and lowering gear. - In luffing- gear for davits comprising a screw 7 pivoted at 15<1> to the davit 1 working in a sleeve 8 with a squared end for turning purposes, the bearing 13 which supports the sleeve by means of a trunnioned. ring 11 confined within stops 15 on the sleeve, is disposed about one third the length of the sleeve from its end; the deck stool 14 which supports the screw may be made narrower and a saving of deck space effected. The ring 11 may be formed as a collar-thrust-bearing with radial lubricating channels. To cause the boat to move on a horizontal path during luffing operations, the falls are secured, to fixed points on the davit frame. In one form, the falls are led through supporting discs 20, to the barrel 17 of a winch, lowering operations being controlled by a rope wound round an upper drum 18 in gear with the barrel 17.
