Abstract

122,595. Marten, T. H. Aug. 8, 1918. Davits.-A pivoted davit boom is swung in and out in a vertical plane by a telescopic member pivoted to the boom and to a rigid support and adapted to be contracted and extended by a screwed spindle. A rod 8 sliding in a tube 11 pivoted to the boom is pivotally connected to the forked head 7 of a pin 6 in lugs 5 on a rigid frame 4. A screwed spindle 23 engages a nut 25 held loosely between lugs 21 on a collar 19 on the inner end of the tube. The screwed spindle passes between sides of the forked head 7 into a journal 24 which is supported by ring bolts 28 encircling pins 27 projecting from the forced head. A tube 29 secured to the tube 11 forms a guide for the end of the screwed spindle.
