Abstract

142,912. Waddington, J. F. Feb. 10, 1919. Davits.-Luffing davits 13 are pivoted to one end of a base 14 of channel section secured to the deck of a ship, and are operated by a handwheel 26 actuating pivoted links 23, 27. A screwed rod 25 pivoted on the same pin as the davit carries a nut 24 in one with the hand-wheel 26. To the nut 24 is pivoted one end of each of the links 23, 27, the other end of which is pivoted to the deck and davit respectively. Rotation of the hand-wheel moves the davit to the outboard position. An inclined tie-rod, secured to the upper end of the davit and pivoted to the deck, maintains the davit in position.
