Davits.-The davit support A which carries the davit in the usual manner is pivotally connected at its lower extremity to a fixed base plate C and is luffed by a right and left handed screw spindle D working in sleeve nuts E, F pivoted respectively to the support A and base plate C. The spindle D is operated by a handwheel N through a worm and a worm-wheel keyed to the spindle D and enclosed in a casing L, which is prevented from rotating by stops O passing through lugs connected to the nuts E, F.
