Abstract

Scrubbers and washers. - In a rotary gas scrubber and washer of the kind in which one or a series of revolving bundles &c. are mounted to rotate within a chamber a containing the liquid, the bundles are arranged to revolve above the level of the liquid so as to be more fully exposed to the flow of gas, and are provided with a plurality of buckets adapted to pick up the liquid and to discharge same when at or near the top of their travel. The buckets f are attached by means of metal straps g to the periphery of circular plates h carrying the revolving bundles c, and are preferably of rectangular shape provided with a narrow opening f<1> at the inner leading edge so that the buckets do not begin to discharge their contents until at or near the horizontal centre line when they are vertical. The buckets may be of the same width as the bundles; or they may be of greater width, in which case the opening is preferably made of the same width. In addition, one or more spray pipes may be arranged in the top of each compartment a.
