Abstract
877,263. Washing gas. PEAK & CO. Ltd., JOHN. Dec. 31, 1959 [Ja.n. 13, 1959159No. 1187/59. Class 55 (2). Gas to be washed in a scrubber 1 is directed from an inlet 2 against a vertical plate 4 down which a film of liquid from sprays 6 is flowing and then passes through holes 5 to follow a sinuous path under a plate 8 and over a plate 11 to an outlet 5, liquid sprays being provided adjacent the lower edge of the plate 8. Liquid at the base of the scrubber falls on to an inclined corrugated base plate 14 and runs into settling tanks 12. Sprays 15 are provided in the roof of the scrubber to wash down the interior of the scrubber from time to time. Sprays 7 may be arranged to spray liquid on the side of the plate 4 remote from the inlet 2 or sprays may be arranged opposite the holes 5 to spray liquid against the flow gas through the holes. A liquid spray may also be arranged adjacent the inlet 2.
