Abstract

<PICT:0363978/III/1> Blast furnace gases after spraying with liquid 7 pass up an annular space in which several cylindrical electrodes 9, 10 supplied with direct current and a collecting plate 12 are suspended from insulators 11. The gases are introduced through pipes with liquid seals and pass down a tube 4 containing the sprays 7 and having a tapering mouth projecting the gases on to a liquid surface in the bottom of the vessel 1, which may be mounted on wheels. Sprays 13, 14 may wash the electrodes and the walls.
