Abstract

153,109. Wells, J. F. Aug. 7, 1919. Scrubbers.-A tar-extractor, gas scrubber, or the like comprises superposed chambers H each containing vanes or paddles J rotating on a vertical shaft, the vanes being carried by disks Q and the disks and the upper and lower walls of the chambers being conical or dished with the convex surface upwards. Gas supplied at G enters and leaves each chamber centrallv and passes out through a central pipe N, annular sawdust scrubber M and pipe L. Water &c. is supplied through centrally-placed openings R and leaves through outlets 1. The chambers H, the base A, and the scrubber M are connected together by spigot-and-socket joints. The base contains an oil-bath for the gearing F, E.
