[Cognate Application, 23,460/14.] Axial-flow type.-A turbine employed for rotating a central shaft 13 in a gas-washing apparatus comprises an annular flange 19 concentric with the shaft and containing inclined passages 21 which open at their upper ends into a recess 20, into which projects an annular water-pipe 23 having a duct 24 through which the water reaches the passages 21. The water is preferably led into the pipe 23 at two points by branches from a main pipe.
