Abstract

206,204. Constantinesco, G. July 27, 1922. Variable-speed gearing rendered automatic by the action of a oscillating mass and acting through ratchets, as described in Specification 185,022, is modified by causing the three principal links in the system to act along lines x, y, z, Fig. 1, directed at angles fulfilling a condition, the simplest case of which is that these lines are at 120‹ to one another. In Fig. 2, the link 4 connected to the driving crank 4<1> is equally inclined to the link 2 connected to the oscillating crank 1, and mass k, Fig. 3, and to the link 6 connected to the shaft 12, which is ratchet driven thereby. Springs 13 steady the drive. The ratchets 15 of the friction type as well as reversible ratchet gearing used in a modification are described in Specification 205,293.
