Abstract

S p r a y carburettors comprise a cross-shape tubular body a<1>, a<2>, a<3>, a<4> in which air entering the part a<2> passes between the coils of an adjustable helical spring e, becomes carburetted and the combustible mixture passes through the coils again to the outlet passage a<1>. A union b for the connection of the fuel-supply pipe is fitted to the part a<3> and holds in position the base d<1> of the nozzle d. This base is recessed to accommodate the lower end of the spring e, the upper end fitting in a recess in a disc i adjustably mounted on a needle valve h which is adjusted by a cable g to control the nozzle outlet. Thus the primary air, fuel and mixture are simultaneously controlled. To restrict the air supply at starting, a cap l slotted at p is fitted over the air intake a<2>. The cap has ports n and a duct r. When drawn back, air enters only through r but as the suction increases, the cap is drawn forward and the ports n, o register to admit air. A supplementary spring k mav be employed. Additional ports s may be provided for air.
