Driving-gear; two-stroke-cycle engines. - In stationary cylinder engines driving through a cam gear, the cam-path b, c, a corresponding to the compression stroke is shaped so as to ensure that the rollers 7 on the cross-heads 5 bear continuously on the cam throughout this stroke. The rollers tend to leave the cam during the movement from c to a, owing to the momentum imparted at the commencement of the compression stroke to the moving pistons, cross-heads etc.; the part c - - - a is constructed to follow up the movement of the roller and prevent separation. The fly-wheel 8 may be formed in segments, each segment corresponding to a complete cycle.
